Three Questions and a Cover — a short interview with one of my favorite authors, along with one of the author’s covers
Julia Royston has more books than I can keep track of. In her usual giving spirit, she’s included an extra Q&A for you lucky readers.
Of all the stories you could have told, why THIS one?
Live Your Best Life is still a work in progress. The 10 things that I have included in this book are just what I know so far in my 58 years of life. I have a lot more living to do and super excited about it. Why this one? It was a branding book. It accompanies my weekly broadcast/podcast but also I wanted to give some hope, encouragement and empowerment is such a troublesome time. There is so much bad news that is seen everywhere and not just on television that I wanted to provide a book that says, “you’re still here and alive, do you best for you and your family and live your best life and not what the world or anybody else says is a good life.”
Can you give us a sneak peek at your next project?
My next project is in the re-write stage, it is fiction and Book #3 of an all-male, 3-Book Series. I thought it would be romance fiction like the first two books but it has turned out to be more drama/contemporary fiction with a little romance thrown in for good measure. It took me a while to write it because I got busy and the characters stopped talking. A fiction writer will know exactly what I mean by that but the characters begin to talk in your head when they are ready to speak. As a writer you must get the words down quickly or they’ll stop because the writer is not interested in what the character has to say. It’s strange for some but if you’re writer, you know exactly what I mean.
What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
Putting on the music to set the mood for the book that I’m writing. Now I can’t write to music all of the time because some of the things that I write are business related and require much thought but if it is romantic fiction or just a scene, the music is romantic. If it is Christian, then some gospel music is going to inspire me. d ecommerce.
What’s your elevator advice (1 line, no more than 30 seconds) for new and/or aspiring authors?
Write what you know, passionate about and care about only, if not, don’t write it.
Live Your Best Life
What does Live Your Best Life really mean? To me, it means being the best me that I can be for me and not anyone else. It means living in my truth and not the truth of someone else. It means living the life that I was meant to live and being okay with it deep down inside myself and not based on what others think, believe or approve. It means a lot to me. It’s not always fun and sometimes it’s downright scary but it’s me and I’m okay with it. Why? I only have one life to live on this earth and this is it. You ready? Let’s go!
