What is Short Anyway?
This month’s b.read.crumbs post by Julie Herman, which you may find in the original on her website.

According to my dictionary, short is a descriptor of distance.
small in length, distance, or height:
a short skirt
Her hair is much shorter than it used to be.
It’s only a short walk to the station.
I’m fairly short but my brother’s very tall.
But for writers, short has other meanings. Poems can be short. Stories can be short. Essays can be long-form or short. For me, short combined with writing means terror. Except when it comes to poetry. I do fairly well with short there. I may be primarily a novelist, but long-form poetry, such as an ode or a novel-in-verse feel beyond me.
Today I am sharing one of my short poems. It’s a Haiku (which I always seem to mistype as Howku, which I may define as its very own form one of these days.)
Sudden bamwoozlement.
Should you ever listen to
your inner critic?
During the month of April, National Poetry Month, many writers will share short poems on their social media. Stop by and say hello then, or, better yet, join in!
